Our online series of chat and song continues this Friday (1st May) as we are joined for an hour or so by Downend Folk Club favourite LUCY WARD. Lucy has performed at the club twice over the course of our six year history, first solo at Frenchay Village Hall in March 2015, before a return, backed by a full band at Downend School, in October 2018... and both times, has proved an absolute hit with the DFC faithful.
Each week, at 8.00pm on our FACEBOOK page, we'll be joined by a different guest for an hour or so. The focus of these events is very much on chat, although each guest will play a few live songs too. You'll are invited to ask questions in the comments, so it will be very interactive... the more people watch and engage, the better it will be for everyone. The events are free, although there is a PayPal donations box, with 100 per cent of the donations going direct to the guest. You can find that at the bottom of the page.
Named ‘Brit-Folks most vibrant and forthright new young talent’ by MOJO, ‘Impressive and original’ by The Guardian and ‘Inspiring’ by Billy Bragg, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winner Lucy is a critically acclaimed singer songwriter and folk musician. Her songs are a sweet mixture of evocative imagery and quiet, involving beauty; passion, protest and tradition all rolled into one. Her voice is breath-taking, this captivating and powerful performer and has a unique ability to inhabit the very heart of every song.
